After a 12-year tenure, Umar Kamani, the Chief Executive Officer of PrettyLittleThing, has announced his resignation from the role. Kamani, who co-founded the company alongside his brother in 2012, took to Twitter to express his gratitude for the memories and experiences gained during his time with the company.

Kamani explained that the decision to step down was difficult but necessary, as he looks forward to embarking on "new challenges" and building "new brands." Despite his departure, Kamani will continue to lend his support to the Boohoo-owned online retailer for select projects while the search for a new CEO is underway.

Under Kamani's leadership, PrettyLittleThing has transformed from a small website selling accessories to a global fashion brand with an estimated worth of £3.8 billion. Kamani expressed his amazement at the brand's success and evolution, noting that he could never have anticipated the heights that PrettyLittleThing would reach when he first envisioned it back in 2012.

In a statement, Boohoo Group, which acquired PrettyLittleThing in 2019, said it had already begun the search for a new CEO. The group’s chief executive John Lyttle said: “Umar has been an inspirational leader and entrepreneur and we thank him for his passion, dedication and commitment to the business over the past 12 years.”

Kamani will remain involved in the business on some projects, while his brother Mahmud will remain in his role as PrettyLittleThing’s executive chairman.
