Matalan Makes Move to Strengthen Customer Experience with Appointment of Former Co-op Exec as Chief Customer and Omnichannel Officer

Fashion retailer Matalan has appointed Ali Jones, former Co-op customer and community director, as its new chief customer and omnichannel officer, effective 19 April. Jones will be responsible for creating a new customer function within the company to connect all customer touchpoints.

Fashion retailer Matalan has appointed Ali Jones, former Co-op customer and community director, as its new chief customer and omnichannel officer, effective 19 April. Jones will be responsible for creating a new customer function within the company to connect all customer touchpoints.


Jones has held senior positions at M&S, Debenhams, Arcadia Group, Next and British Heart Foundation (BHF). She also spent over five years at symbol group retailer the Co-op and is currently a board member of the Association of Convenience Stores (ACS).


Matalan’s newly appointed CEO Jo Whitfield said: “I am really excited about the opportunity that this appointment will give us, building on the great foundations and plans already in place. Working closely with Ali and her team, we will build a connected strategy and stronger brand experience, however our customers choose to shop with Matalan.”

The appointment of Ali Jones as Matalan’s chief customer and omnichannel officer is part of the company’s strategy to strengthen its customer experience and build a connected strategy. Jones brings with her a wealth of experience in the retail industry, having held senior positions at several major retailers. With her expertise, Matalan is confident that it will be able to create a seamless omnichannel experience for its customers.
