Nappy Box Co, a business founded in 2019 by Margaret O’Shea and her husband, has achieved considerable success in its three years of operation. The company offers cost-efficient and eco-friendly products to parents, providing an alternative to single-use nappies and wipes.
O’Shea initially stocked international brand Alvababy to build a customer base and brand familiarity. She then developed her own brand of nappies, Lulu & Finn, with the goal of making cloth nappies affordable, gimmick-free, and straightforward. The Colmena range was then launched, partnering with ABC to print children’s TV show characters like Play School and Bananas in Pyjamas onto the nappies.
In late 2020, Nappy Box Co landed on marketplace platform Catch and has since seen considerable success in converting many Aussies from disposable to cloth nappies. O’Shea estimates that her business has helped save 40 million nappies from ending up in landfill, as one cloth nappy can substitute 1000 disposables.
“While many initially fear the cloth nappy, our sales are showing there’s increasing curiosity and demand for these products,” said O’Shea. The company currently has an entire warehouse of stock and their best-selling Lulu & Finn range has more than 300 prints to choose from.
Nappy Box Co’s success is a testament to the increasing demand for eco-friendly and cost-efficient products. The company’s mission to minimise single-use nappies and wipes has had a positive impact on families and the environment, and is a great example of how businesses can make a difference.
