Caterpillar Inc., one of the world’s largest manufacturers of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial turbines and related products, is taking its ecommerce capabilities to the next level. The company, which reported 2022 sales and revenues of $59.4 billion, has recently launched the Cat Central app, a mobile platform that allows customers to find, research, and purchase parts directly from the job site or any other location.
The app, which was developed in less than a year, offers customers multiple payment and delivery options, including free and flexible in-store pick up, support resources such as manuals and fault code descriptions, and features for equipment management, financing, and customer loyalty rewards. It also provides customers with a QR code to instantly access verified-to-fit parts or save the asset for future needs, as well as real-time access to parts support specialists.
“Cat Central offers do-it-myself customers one central place for easy access to ordering parts and general support resources while providing a faster shopping and purchasing experience,” said Brent Steffen, director of ecommerce at Caterpillar. “This app enables customers to order on the go anywhere — freeing up the time to focus on the job at hand.”
Steffen will be the kick-off keynote speaker for EnvisionB2B 2023 on Wednesday, June 21, 9:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. Central in Chicago. His Keynote Address is How Caterpillar Pushes Innovation in B2B Ecommerce.
“We understand what our customers want in the way of a better digital user experience,” Steffen said. “And we look to them to guide our ecommerce goals and objectives.”
The Cat Central app is the latest example of Caterpillar’s commitment to providing customers with the best possible ecommerce experience. The company is also offering a complimentary subscription to Digital Commerce 360 B2B News, which covers technology and business trends in the growing B2B ecommerce industry.
