Salesforce Pushes for Profitability with Upcoming Job Cuts

Salesforce, the cloud computing giant, is reportedly considering additional job cuts as part of its efforts to improve profitability. Chief Operating Officer Brian Millham has taken over some of the operational and customer-facing responsibilities previously held by co-Chief Executive Officer Bret Taylor, and is working with consultant Bain & Co. to review the business. These job cuts come after other tech giants such as Facebook and Amazon have also announced layoffs.

Salesforce, the cloud computing giant, is reportedly considering additional job cuts as it continues to focus on improving profitability. According to Chief Operating Officer Brian Millham, the company is working with consultant Bain & Co. to review the business and may make changes to its organizational structure. This comes after Salesforce announced in January that it would cut 8,000 jobs, or 10% of its workforce, its biggest-ever headcount reduction. The company is also closing offices across the US. Millham, who joined the company as its 13th employee in 1999 and was promoted to COO in 2022, has taken over some of the operational and customer-facing responsibilities previously held by co-chief executive officer Bret Taylor before he left the company earlier this year. Millham said that Salesforce wants to have both a performance and wellness culture. The job cuts come as other tech giants such as Facebook and Amazon have also announced layoffs. Facebook is cutting 20,000 jobs, while Amazon is cutting 27,000 jobs, its third round of job cuts. Activist investors who have taken stakes in Salesforce are pushing to cut costs further in search of increased earnings and improved profit margins. (Source: Bloomberg)
